Environmental Responsibility and Packaging
We love the environment here at Mina’s Apiary! The only reason our bees can do what they do is because there is a healthy and vibrant ecosystem around our apiaries.
We owe so much to the environment, and that is why we try to do our part to protect it. Of course, our bees help the local ecosystems by pollinating flowers, but we also make sure that our packaging is environmentally responsible.
Our packages ship in sturdy cardboard boxes. These boxes don’t have coverings because that just adds extra waste, and the boxes are hearty enough to keep your order safe through the shipping process. We also took care when selecting these boxes to make sure that they can hold all of the goodies you order. Shipping fewer boxes reduces our carbon footprint. That is also why if you order a gift basket, any other products you order with it will be placed within the same box.
When you open up your box, you will find your product resting in a protective cushion of shaved wood. This is undyed, shaved aspen. It is 100% natural and biodegradable, you could put this right into your garden and it would naturally break down. The reason we chose to use shaved aspen as our packing material is to eliminate foam peanuts and to avoid polluting bubble wrap. This shaved wood is undyed, the only processing has been shaving it into strands, which means that in addition to being biodegradable, its production is gentler on the environment than other options.
Finally, you can see your handmade bee goodies. We take care to choose sturdy and attractive containers that not only make our products a joy to use, but which you can use after you are done. Feel free to use the glass and tin containers to organize your drawers, or as part of your own projects! And if you really don’t have any other use for them, you can peel off the stickers, and recycle the containers.
Even though we are already putting all this effort into making our packaging and shipping sustainable, we are always open to hearing your suggestions on how we can improve!
We hope you have a lovely day!
